Visionary
Walter is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and a senior advisor and former managing partner of Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm. He is currently an active private investor and advisor to a number of promising start-up and growth stage technology companies through Kortschak Investments.
Over a 30-year venture capital career, he has served as a director of over 50 companies and a number of his investments have completed successful public exits and merger transactions. He has consistently appeared on the Forbes Midas List of top venture capitalists. Prior to Summit, he was a Vice President and Associate at Crosspoint Venture Partners and a software engineer in the computer graphics field.
He received a BS in engineering from Oregon State University, an MS in engineering from Caltech and an MBA from UCLA. Walter is a member of the Board of Trustees at Caltech. He is also a past director of the National Venture Capital Association.
